THE SHAUN McMANUS TRUST

In July 2006, the life of a young Golborne man suddenly came to an end when he was knocked down by a vehicle whilst crossing the East Lancashire Road.

Shaun was on his way home from a music festival in Newton le Willows when he died.  We thought therefore, that music would be an appropriate way to honour Shaun’s name.

In July 2007 a fund raiser was held at Golborne Catholic Club featuring local bands Urban Circus and Monte Cristo Blondes.  Another night of music is planned for this July.

From the money raised to date we have donated to several local groups for young people, including football, rugby and morris dancers. Further information can be found in the next pages.

Shaun worked with, and more importantly helped disadvantaged young people.  His dedication and passion was so strong that, just before his death, he was in the process of having his house extended in order to convert into a children’s home.  Sadly, this dream was never fulfilled.  After Shaun’s death, theTrust was set up to continue Shaun’s good work to help disadvantaged youths, clubs and groups for young people in our local area.  Thousands of pounds have already been raised and used for good causes.

Shaun was a keen fan of Everton Football Club as are many of his friends in Golborne.
